The Tamarindo Estuary is part of Las Baulas National Marine Park, a protected ecological zone where the Tamarindo River meets the Pacific Ocean. This lush mangrove forest creates a calm, shaded waterway—an incredible contrast to Tamarindo’s sunny beaches.

Wildlife you may see:

Howler monkeys swinging through the trees (you’ll hear them first!)
Crocodiles basking along the riverbanks or drifting in the water
Iguanas, basilisks, crabs, and butterflies
Over 180 species of birds, including herons, kingfishers, and osprey
